ZILĀ is a play in two acts by Gunārs Priede, staged at Valmiera Theatre New Hall in Valmiera from 30 September to 2 October 2026. Directed by Māra Ķimele, the production tells the story of Rasma and her seriously ill son Juris, as they grapple with questions of guilt, silence and spiritual heritage in the aftermath of a family tragedy in the mountains of Georgia. The cast includes Artis Jančevskis, Ieva Puķe, Anna Nele Āboliņa, Tālivaldis Lasmanis, Januss Johansons, Baiba Valante and Māra Vīgante. The production is supported by the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation and marks the theatre’s return to its renovated building. The theme explores returning home and the many expressions of love.
