BURVJU KALNS is a theatre performance in Valmiera, taking place at Valmiera Theatre’s Jaunā zāle from 20 September to 29 November 2026. Inspired by Nobel laureate Thomas Mann’s novel, the play follows engineer Hans Castorp’s experiences at the “Berghof” sanatorium in Switzerland on the eve of war. Directed by Toms Treinis, with dramaturgy by Justīne Kļava and scenography by Kristaps Kramiņš, the cast includes Aksels Aizkalns, Māra Mennika, Klinta Reinholde and others. The performance marks the company’s return to the newly renovated theatre building on Lāčplēša Street, reflecting themes of homecoming and love.
