“ROMEO UN DŽULJETA” is William Shakespeare’s tragedy in two acts at the Valmiera Theatre Great Hall in Valmiera on 31 January 2027. Directed by Inese Mičule, the production revisits the love of two young people from feuding families through the lens of contemporary Italy’s “golden youth”, the Sicilian mafia and the crowds of tourists outside Juliet’s house in Verona. The creative team includes set designer Mārtiņš Vilkārsis, costume designer Ilze Vītoliņa, movement director Elīna Gediņa, composer Emīls Zilberts and lighting designer Oskars Pauliņš. The cast includes Sandis Runge, Diāna Krista Stafecka, Aigars Apinis and other Valmiera Theatre actors. The production was created in the 2024/2025 season, marking the theatre’s return to its renovated building at Lāčplēša iela 4.
