The presentation of the monograph "Grāmata un bibliotēka Liepājā gadu simtos" takes place on 8 October 2026 at the Grunta Hall of Liepājas Centrālā zinātniskā bibliotēka, Zivju iela 7, Liepāja. Jana Dreimane, the monograph’s editor-in-chief and one of its authors, will introduce the book’s content, creation process, research, sources and findings. The publication explores Liepāja’s history of books and libraries over several centuries, from the library’s beginnings in 1777 to the present day. The meeting will also highlight people who shaped the library and the city’s intellectual life, valuable and unusual collections, books and calendars published in Liepāja, music-related publications and other cultural-historical evidence. Everyone interested in Liepāja’s history, books, libraries and cultural heritage is welcome.
