Krista Vindberga-Auzniece solo exhibition "Circles Are Better Than Lines (oda pieskārienam)"
This exhibition showcases Krista Vindberga-Auzniece's latest drawings created specifically for her solo show. The works are developed through repetition, silence, and concentration, with each movement gradually imprinting itself on the surface. Charcoal crumbles, slips from control, and is integrated into the carefully prepared canvas, where every new touch holds the trace of the previous one. The artist explores her sensitivity through inspiration from old family album photographs, which serve as starting points for prolonged, meditative observation. The shapes in the drawings on canvas and paper are formed from a rhythmic, attentive process, with the artist's hand acting as instrument, measuring device, and memory bearer. The finished works retain the pressure of the palm, fingerprints, and even blood stains from the artist's persistent interaction with charcoal and canvas. Archival photographic images are significantly enlarged, altering both their meaning and perception. The exhibition features twenty drawings, drawing viewers into their surfaces and inviting narratives to develop through movement, distance, and cyclical return. While a line moves forward, a circle reorders and restructures movement and rhythm.
