Exhibition “Meeting”
The exhibition invites you to revisit the artist's works and delve into her multi-layered creative world, where porcelain serves as a bearer of stories and symbols. Characterized by her original decals, gilding, glazing, and a variety of color application methods, Maruta Raude’s art reflects her distinctive style. The exhibition’s title refers to encounters on several levels – with the artist's creative output, with people who knew her, and with artworks from various collections brought together for the first time. Special emphasis is given to the works “The Great Cup” (2008) and “Maximalism” (2016), highlighting the diversity and symbolic nature of the artist’s thinking. Maruta Raude belonged to a generation of Latvian porcelain artists who, after the 1990s, developed porcelain as a medium for contemporary art. Her creative practice fuses technical mastery with a conceptual and poetic outlook, with porcelain becoming her main mode of artistic expression.
