LAIPOTĀJI is a contemporary one-act masked comedy in Valmiera at Valmieras teātris Apaļā zāle, running from 21 October to 24 November 2026. The production is directed and written by Kārlis Krūmiņš, with set design by Ieva Kauliņa, choreography by Eva Krūmiņa and lighting by Gatis Priednieks. The cast features Valmiera Theatre actors Aksels Aizkalns, Tomass Ralfs Ābolkalns, Ieva Estere Barkāne, Elizabete Milta, Kristaps Kristers Ozols and Kārlis Dzintars Zahovskis. Created in the style of commedia dell’arte, the play is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Othello”. Its comic perspective explores power, status, the outsider’s role, love and passion, and the lengths people may go to rise in life, including lies and killing in literal or figurative senses.
