VĒJDZIRNAVAS is a theatre performance in Riga at the Great Hall of the New Riga Theatre, running from 5 October to 17 December 2026. A country property has been left without an owner, and relatives and heirs gather there, setting off melodramatic passions around relationships, money and family matters. Inga Ābele’s play places this old story in the context of contemporary Latvia, giving it a poetic and existential dimension and turning it into a metaphor for a nation whose beginning and end remain a great mystery. The production is directed by Alvis Hermanis, with scenography by Alvis Hermanis and Niks Cipruss, costumes by Jana Čivžele and lighting by Niks Cipruss. The cast includes Gerds Lapoška, Gundars Āboliņš, Sandra Kļaviņa, Andris Keišs, Kristīne Krūze, Jānis Skutelis, Agate Krista, Inga Ungure, Liena Šmukste, Zane Daudziņa and Kajs Hermanis.
