Opera Rosa Alchemica is a world premiere opera taking place at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in Riga, Aspazijas bulvāris 3, on 19 May 2027. The story follows Scarlet, author of the treatise Rosa Alchemica, as she dreams of transforming into an otherworldly being to discover the depths of beauty and truth. Invited by her friend Carmina to join the secret Order of the Alchemical Rose, Scarlet enters an enigmatic world where the peace of her soul may be at stake. Music is by Krists Auznieks, with a libretto by Kārlis Vērdiņš based on themes from William Butler Yeats. The creative team includes director Dāvis Sīmanis, set designer Monika Korpa, and costume designers Mārīte Mastiņa-Pēterkopa and Rolands Pēterkops of fashion brand MAREUNROL’S.
