The ballet "Sapnis vasaras naktī" will be performed at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in Riga from 27 November 2026 to 10 February 2027. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s comedy, this production was created in 1977 for the Hamburg Ballet by choreographer John Neumeier in collaboration with set and costume designer Jürgen Rose. The production blends humor and dreamlike poetry to create a powerful psychological atmosphere. The musical dramaturgy guides the audience through three contrasting worlds: the aristocratic court, the mystical realm of elves, and the vibrant life of artisans, highlighted by music from Mendelssohn, Ligeti, and barrel-organ melodies.
