Opera Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss will be performed at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in Riga from 8 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. This new production blends comic situations and the waltz’s lightness with emotional depth, telling a story of love and the passage of time, with irony and melancholy. The opera was last staged in Latvia in 1930. The 2026 production is directed by Viesturs Kairišs with set and costume designer Germans Ermičs, lighting by Alex Brok Light Design, and movement direction by Elīna Gediņa.
