“Kontrabass” is a theatre play in Riga at the National Theatre Grand Hall from 11 to 27 December 2026. The largest string instrument rarely takes centre stage as a soloist, despite its velvety tone and elegant shape. Through Patrick Süskind’s text, the play opens up the ironic and poignant backstage world of a double bass player. At its centre is National Theatre actor Gundars Grasbergs and his “romance” with the double bass. Directed by Pēteris Krilovs; starring Gundars Grasbegrs. Address: Kronvalda Boulevard 2, Riga.
