The music of Johann Strauss, known as the waltz king, inspired this romantic ballet about the choice between love and the stage, dreams and reality. "At the Blue Danube" was first staged in Riga in 1957, has been revived several times, and has become part of the golden heritage of Latvian ballet. This new production also celebrates the 110th anniversary of the ballet’s producer, Helēna Tangijeva-Birzniece.
