MONSTRS is a play in Riga at Dailes Theatre from 24 November to 1 December 2026. Duncan Macmillan’s two-act production follows Tom, a young and conscientious teacher whose student is fifteen-year-old Derils, already far more experienced in life. To help prevent the difficult pupil from being expelled, Tom must enter a world shaped by hip-hop, slang and the glorification of violence, forcing him to reassess his seemingly well-ordered life. The cast includes Gints Andžāns as Tom, Kārlis Arnolds Avots or Tomass Deinis as Derils, Anete Kursīte and Ināra Slucka. Directed by Dmitrijs Petrenko, with set design by Marija Ulmane, costumes by Baiba Litiņa and music by Prusax. The performance contains explicit language. Translated from English by Andris Kuprišs.
