Nemorino is passionately in love with Adina but lacks the courage to confess his feelings. He wishes for a magical potion that would open Adina's eyes to his love. The travelling salesman Dulcamara provides such a potion, but its effects are not as Nemorino hoped. The comic misunderstandings in the opera show that true love overcomes all obstacles. This is the third production of Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera "L'elisir d'amore" at the Latvian National Opera, directed by Sven-Eric Bechtolf with visual design by Julian Crouch.
