MELNAIS GULBIS is a theatre production in Riga at the New Hall of the New Riga Theatre, running from 24 October to 10 December 2026. The production introduces JRT’s New Hall, a new performance space with previously unavailable technical possibilities. It is based on a dramatisation of Dostoevsky’s novel The Idiot, bringing together the metaphor of the “black swan”, Russian classical ballet and references to the current political context. The performance lasts 3 hours 30 minutes and has three acts. Alvis Hermanis is the director and set designer, Jana Čivžele the costume designer, and Zane Teikmane the choreographer. The cast includes Kaspars Znotiņš, Evelīna Priede, Andris Keišs, Baiba Broka, Gundars Āboliņš and other performers. Address: 25 Lāčplēša Street, Riga.
