Mākslas zinātnieces Edvardas Šmites lekcija “Teodors Zaļkalns. 1876–2026” is an educational event in Sigulda at Turaida Museum Reserve on 9 November 2026. Starting at 14:00 in the new residential house of the Turaida Manor administrator, the lecture explores Latvian sculptor Teodors Zaļkalns, his life, creative path and close connection with Sigulda, Allaži and Turaida. The programme covers his family background, seven decades devoted to art, studies in Saint Petersburg and Paris, and the importance of his work in Latvia’s cultural landscape. Visitors can also see the exhibition “Astainie līdzgaitnieki. Teodora Zaļkalna animālijas”, featuring nine animal figures from the collection of the Latvian National Museum of Art.
