"MAKBETS" is a tragedy by William Shakespeare presented at Daugavpils Theatre Lielā zāle, Daugavpils, on 10 October 2026. This movement- and sound-driven production for audiences 16+ tells the story of power-lust and its destructive consequences, performed primarily in English and Russian with Latvian surtitles. The show runs for 1 hour 20 minutes. Most actors are recent graduates of the Stanislavs Broks Daugavpils Music Secondary School. Directed by Oļegs Šapošņikovs, with the support of Shakespearean scholar Paul Goodwin, the performance traces the psychological transformation that power and fear can trigger, leading to ultimate ruin.
