Contemporary Art Festival "Survival Kit 17"
Organized by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, the "Survival Kit 17" festival is a major annual contemporary art event in the Baltics. Since 2009, the festival gathers artists, curators, and art enthusiasts from Latvia and abroad in Riga every autumn. Events are held in various empty or unused buildings that shape the festival's unique identity. This year’s exhibition, "Arrow of the Wind: On Art and Healing," focuses on therapy, rituals, health care, and spiritual renewal. The program features artists whose work is related to healing and art as a way of life. Latvian healing traditions combine knowledge of natural remedies with rituals and magical techniques, practices preserved through folklore, songs, and poetry, especially valued during the migration periods of the 20th century. Festival opening hours: Mon, Tue – closed; Wed-Sat – 12:00-20:00; Sun – 12:00-18:00.
