The ballet "Veltīgā uzmanība" will be performed at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet in Riga on November 4, 2026. This vibrant and witty work by English choreographer Frederick Ashton remains one of his most celebrated pieces, originally inspired by the 1789 ballet of French choreographer Jean Dauberval. The lively story follows widow Simone, who hopes to marry her daughter Lise to Alain, son of a wealthy landowner, but Lise is in love with the young farmer Colas. The music by Louis Joseph Ferdinand Herold was arranged for this ballet by John Lanchbery. The performance promises to delight fans of classical choreography and newcomers alike.
