ĀBEĻZIEDI UPĒ is a theatre production in Riga at the New Hall of the New Riga Theatre, running from 28 to 31 October 2026. Director Alvis Hermanis creates a theatrical continuation of the legendary film “Ābols upē”. The film’s character Janka returns to a story about the “Latvian Atlantis”, while Ivars Kalniņš returns to the JRT stage. The history of Zaķusala becomes a metaphor for much else. The authors are Margarita Zieda and Alvis Hermanis. Alvis Hermanis is also the director and set designer. The cast includes Ivars Kalniņš and Agate Krista. The performance lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. The venue is at Lāčplēša iela 25, Riga.
