“Vēju vīrs Pankoks” is an opera by Rihards Dubra in Liepāja at Lielais Dzintars from 5 to 6 November 2027. With a libretto by Inga Ābele, it follows Miķelis Pankoks, a fisherman’s son who discovers an artistic calling while facing hardship and searching for his identity. Sea landscapes, family drama, artistic triumph, loss, exile and a vision of spiritual return meet in the production. The opera is performed in the South Kurzeme dialect. An extended stage is used, making row 5 the first audience row.
