Ivetas Laures izstāde “Mīlestība un zīds” is a solo exhibition in Daugavpils at the Rothko Museum, Mihaila iela 3, on 10 September 2026. Artist Iveta Laure (1962) brings together works made at different times, including pieces created especially for the Rothko Museum. The exhibition explores women’s rights and self-determination, family and inherited roles, the body, sexuality, violence and freedom. Its impulses include Aspazija’s uncompromising “NO”, the struggle of the suffragists, rural life and handicraft traditions in Latvia’s first period of independence, war and deportations, the Catholic code of Latgale, Eastern cultural ideas about women and love, and sexism that still exists today. Silk intertwines these stories in a single visual language through painting, embroidery, folded spatial objects and installations.
