Dowland: Vēstule no Nirnbergas is an early music concert in Riga at RAA SPACE on 4 December 2026. The programme centres on the vocal and instrumental music of English Renaissance composer and lutenist John Dowland, alongside works by his contemporaries and other Renaissance composers. Refined songs, instrumental dialogues and dance rhythms will bring together harpsichord, violin and voice. The concert’s dramatic framework is Dowland’s 1595 letter to Robert Cecil. Actor Leonhard Horstmeyer will read excerpts in Early Modern English, adding the composer’s own period voice to the musical narrative. The performers are Karolina Parmas (soprano, LT), Laura Šarova (violin, LV), Jana Zariņa (harpsichord, LV) and Leonhard Horstmeyer (actor, DE).
