“Cilvēks un Tirāns” is a contemporary solo theatre performance in Daugavpils at New East on 13 March 2027. Created as a social experiment, the performance makes the audience participants and invites them to reflect, choose and respond. Based on Vladimir Nabokov’s story “The Destruction of Tyrants”, it explores the limits of free will, the mechanisms of violence, the normalisation of hatred, power, propaganda and personal responsibility. The actor and director is Vadims Bogdanovs, with music by Vladimirs Sklema and the band Pornofilmy. The production deliberately rejects the safe distance of traditional theatre. Warning: coarse language and strobe lighting; the performance may be upsetting.
