Bloody Mary, a contemporary theatre performance, takes place at Dailes teātris in Rīga on 1 June 2027. Directed by Dmitry Krymov, the production is based on motifs from Friedrich Schiller’s Mary Stuart, but is neither an adaptation nor an illustration of the play. In a trauma centre, people from different worlds and eras meet, including two actresses preparing to perform Mary Stuart. Their conversations gradually become a story about power, jealousy and execution, where grotesque comedy stands beside tragedy. The performance lasts 1 hour 30 minutes without an interval. It is in Russian with Latvian and English subtitles, and is presented as a Gešer Theatre guest performance within a Latvia–Israel cultural cooperation programme.
