During the winter solstice, when the day is shortest and the night is longest, the Open-Air Museum holds Yule Log Eve. Visitors can take part in log dragging, fortune casting, future telling, festive fun, games, and a Christmas market. Traditionally, the large log is dragged from one homestead to another and burned at the end, symbolizing the beginning of a new solar year.
