“Sibīrijas haiku” is a visually poetic, technologically refined paper animation production in Riga at the Latvian Puppet Theatre, running from 10 November 2026 to 9 February 2027. Based on Jurga Vile and Lina Itagaki’s award-winning Lithuanian graphic novel, the play follows the deportation of a young Lithuanian boy, Algis, and his family to Siberia. Directed by Valters Sīlis, it offers audiences aged 10 and up an emotionally nuanced view of the deportations of Baltic people through a child’s perspective. The creative team includes stage artist Uģis Bērziņš, composer Gatis Krievāns, video and lighting artists, and actors. The puppet theatre’s house rules apply. Address: Kr. Barona Street 16/18, Riga.
