Izrāde "Gogolis. Portrets" is a play taking place on 23 November 2026 in Riga at the Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre, Kaļķu iela 16. The play by Esther Bol is based on Nikolay Gogol’s novella "The Portrait". It explores Gogol’s world, where the embodiment of Evil needs an artist to express itself and affirm its existence. Unable to withstand temptation, the person who could serve Beauty begins to serve the devil. This is a terrifying tale that resonates with the present day. The performance is in Russian with surtitles in Latvian and English. Directed by Yury Butusov.
