Marettas Staprānes–Bārlovas izstāde “Laima. Raimonds: Ģimenes laimes portreti” is an art exhibition in Jūrmala, at the Raiņa and Aspazija Summer House, on 18 August 2026. At its centre are 27 members of the Staprāns family from four generations, each with a personal experience and understanding of happiness. While creating the works, participants answered questions about happiness, listened to meaningful music and recalled moments of joy, peace and closeness. Their brain activity was recorded using electroencephalography, or EEG; the data influenced the intensity, visual structure, level of detail and sharpness of the portraits. The exhibition also presents visualisations of participants’ brain-activity data, including Raimonds Staprāns’s. EEG is not used to diagnose emotions or scientifically measure happiness, but forms part of the artist’s method.
