Liepājas Starptautiskā zvaigžņu festivāla atklāšana is a classical music concert in Liepāja at the Great Hall of Liepājas koncertzāle LIELAIS DZINTARS on 6 March 2027. The programme features pianist Vestards Šimkus, the 2026 laureate of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, and the Artur Malawski Subcarpathian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra from Rzeszów, Poland, conducted by Norbert Tvorčinski, also from Poland. The concert includes Franz Liszt’s Third Piano Concerto, Henryk Wieniawski’s Second Violin Concerto and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7. The festival opening explores the Romantic-era relationship between the individual soloist and the orchestra, from Liszt’s continuous-form virtuosity to Wieniawski’s lyrical violin writing and Dvořák’s symphonic drama. An induction loop will be activated for visitors with hearing impairments; the recommended listening area is the centre of the stalls, rows 5–12.
