“EIROPAS NOLAUPĪŠANA” is an electroacoustic chamber opera in Riga at Hanzas perons on 13 November 2026. The closing event of the new music festival “ARĒNA” presents the premiere of a work by composers Gundega Šmite and Dimitris Maronidis. The performers include Ensemble EUNOIA, founded in Basel and specialising in contemporary music, along with scenographer Katrīna Neiburga and light artist Oskars Pauliņš. Acoustic instruments meet electronics, delicate video projections and a nuanced lighting score. Inspired by the myth of Europa’s abduction, the opera reflects on European identity, inclusion and hope amid contemporary geopolitical tensions.
