Crossroads. Sākums is a chamber music concert programme in Ventspils and Īle, taking place from 29 to 31 October 2026 at several venues: Ventspils Pārventas bibliotēka and Akustiskā koncertzāle ĪLE. The programme features Edvard Grieg’s suite From Holberg’s Time, Mark Mellits’ Splinter and George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. It is performed by Crossroads, the first reed quintet in Latvia and the Baltics. The ensemble combines clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bassoon and bass clarinet, played by Madara Eleonora Mežale, Līva Juruša, Patrīcija Bloma, Pauls Reinis and Edgars Karpenskis-Allažs. The programme introduces audiences to the reed quintet format and chamber music for wind instruments.
