A.Pjacolla “Maria de Buenos Aires” is a concert performance in Riga at the Opera Grand Hall on 1 March 2027. Astor Piazzolla’s operetta combines tango nuevo, poetry, toccata and fugue, biblical motifs, existential sorrow and tragedy. Swedish-Chilean mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini appears as María, Daniel Banilla-Torress takes the role of El duende, the storyteller, and Daumants Kalniņš performs as El payador. The instrumental ensemble is led by violinist Daniils Bulajevs and features flute, bandoneon, accordion, piano, percussion and guitar. Davinspiro Camerata also performs. The production is in Spanish.
