ANSĪTIS UN GRIETIŅA is a puppet theatre production at Liepājas Leļļu teātris in Liepāja from 22 November 2026 to 23 January 2027. Based on the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale, this “truly sweetly dark fairy tale” is intended for children aged 5 to 15 and their accompanying adults. The 50-minute production follows Ansītis and Grietiņa into the forest, where they face fear, a witch and the challenges of growing up. With an ironic contemporary perspective, it explores relationships between children and parents, the pressures of poverty, popular culture and commerce, as well as dependence on sugar, devices and substances, overparenting and unequal perceptions of gender roles.
