Jurim Neikenam 200 “Pamatlicējs. Vai tavs mūžs kam lieti der?” is a cultural-historical event at Rīgas Latviešu Biedrības nams in Rīga on 18 October 2026. The programme commemorates Juris Neikens, a teacher, writer, pastor and cultural educator who helped establish Latvia’s Song Festival tradition, marking his 200th anniversary. The event features excerpts from his poetry, prose, correspondence and diaries, original music by Māris Lasmanis with Neikens’s texts, Latvian folk songs and choral music. Participants include actress Anita Grūbe, composer and pianist Māris Lasmanis, researcher Diāna Nipāne, baritone Imants Erdmans and three choirs. The event starts at 16:00 and will be filmed and photographed.
