Jelgavas Jaunā teātra izrāde Sofokls “Valdnieks Oidips” is a tragic theatre production in Jelgava at Kultūras nams ROTA, running from 14 to 15 November 2026. In this one-act play, Oedipus rules Thebes wisely and honestly after solving the Sphinx’s riddle and saving the city from ruin. When plague strikes again, he sets out to find the murderer of the former ruler Laius. The investigation reveals unknown facts about Oedipus himself and leads him into a profound personal crisis. The production tells a story about the search for truth at any cost. The cast includes Juris Bandenieks, Alīna Baumane, Emīlija Vuškārniece, Jevgenijs Džeriņš, Andris Jakovelis, Luīze Kalniņa, Jolanta Kupriša, Indra Soika-Dreimane, Santa Stumbre, Ģirts Šteinmanis and Īvs Zvejs.
