Jelgavas Jaunā teātra izrāde Sofokls “Valdnieks Oidips” is a tragic theatre production in Jelgava at Kultūras nams ROTA, running from 14 to 15 November 2026. In this one-act tragedy, Oedipus rules Thebes wisely and honestly after solving the Sphinx’s riddle and saving the city from ruin. When plague strikes again, the gods declare that it will not end until the murderer of the former ruler Laius is found and driven away. Oedipus does everything to uncover the killer, unaware that the investigation will reveal unknown facts about himself and lead him into a profound personal crisis. The cast includes Juris Bandenieks, Alīna Bartkeviča, Marta Brakanska, Jevgeņijs Džeriņš, Andris Jakovelis, Luīze Kalniņa, Jolanta Kupriša, Indra Soika-Dreimane, Santa Stumbre, Ģirts Šteinmanis and Īvs Zvejs.
