Balfolk Placis is a dance evening taking place at Āgenskalna tirgus Siltumnīca in Riga from 26 September to 23 October 2026. The event invites everyone to experience balfolk and traditional dances with live music in a friendly and inclusive setting that brings together both locals and visitors. Throughout the evening, live musicians play Latvian, European, and sometimes more modern balfolk tunes, with waltzes, mazurkas, polkas, bourrées, and circle dances taught and enjoyed. No partner or previous dance experience is needed as dance steps are introduced all evening long. Anyone interested in community and living dance traditions will feel welcome.
