The concert "Amerikas džeza vakars. Bigbenda kompozīciju konkursa fināls ar Jirži Kotaču" will take place at Spīķeru koncertzāle in Riga on 3 December 2026. Renowned Czech trumpeter and composer Jiří Kotača will perform together with the Latvian Radio Big Band, presenting original works as well as finalist compositions from the big band composition contest. The programme features contemporary Czech big band pieces and music by legendary composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Gil Evans. Jiří Kotača is known for innovative approaches to big band music, and his album “Bigband Electronics” has received top awards in the Czech Republic. This concert, focused on jazz’s American roots and big band traditions, highlights both the genre's diversity and its legends.
