Tiešsaistes lekcija "Amerikāņu impresionisms"
The online lecture "Amerikāņu impresionisms" is held in ZOOM tiešraide on 19 October 2026. It explores the artistic movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which brought the lightness and mastery of light associated with French Impressionism into the context of American optimism, pragmatism and affection for local landscapes. The lecture considers why American Impressionists quickly achieved commercial success and public popularity, unlike their French counterparts, and looks at the art colonies they established in the countryside for summer stays. It also covers their enthusiasm for modern metropolitan architecture: New York light, the Flatiron skyscraper in a snowstorm, bridges and crowded squares transformed into poetry of light.
