Noras Ikstenas lasītavas atklāšana Ikšķiles pilsētas bibliotēkā in Ikšķile is a literary opening event on 17 October 2026. The new reading room is intended for reading, work and study, while also offering a way to experience the writer’s presence through her books, photographs and personal belongings. Visitors can explore Noras Ikstenas works and translations, including editions of “Mātes piens” in 21 languages. At the opening, the Ikšķile Secondary School Choir will perform the musical story “Upes balss”, based on “Ulubeles pasakas”, followed by a musical greeting from the mixed vocal ensemble led by Juris Kļaviņš. Afterward, visitors are invited to continue to Nora’s house for a remembrance gathering with a bring-your-own-food evening and chamomile tea.
