Lejaskurzemes tradīciju skola workshop takes place in Liepāja at Kultūrvieta SVENTĀJA on 17 October 2026. The session explores wedding traditions of the Lower Kurzeme region, including ancient rituals, songs, customs and their symbolic meaning. Gunta Klievēna, leader of the Bārta Ethnographic Ensemble, will explain how weddings were held in Lower Kurzeme and what different rituals meant as a young couple began their life together. The practical part offers an opportunity to learn wedding songs and games. The Bārta Ethnographic Ensemble will take care of the musical and traditions programme.
