The film “Tumšā robeža” takes place in Smiltene at the Cinema Hall of Smiltene Municipality Cultural Centre from 6 to 17 November 2026. Set in 1938, it follows Baltais, an officer of Latvia’s counterintelligence service sent on a secret mission to a border town. Disguised as journalist Ilmārs Blanks, he tries to recover information important to national security and expose a Russian agent. He arrives in a place resembling a narrow strip between two worlds, where the truth about the mysterious murder of the woman he loved is hidden. The film is in Latvian with English subtitles.
