Over two evenings, the chamber music event "Reich Phase" will celebrate Steve Reich's milestone birthday. Audiences will experience significant chamber works from different periods of the composer's career. Violinist Marta Spārniņa will perform "Violin Phase" (1967), one of Reich’s early works for solo violin and tape. The Perona Quartet – Konstantīns Paturskis, Aleksejs Bahirs, Pēteris Trasuns, and Dace Zālīte-Zilberte – will give the Latvian premiere of the string quartet "WTC 9/11" (2010), dedicated to the victims of the September 11 attacks. Under the direction of conductor Normunds Šnē, Sinfonietta Rīga, Perons Percussion, pianists Rihards Plešanovs and Evelīna Jēkabsone, and a vocal quartet led by Viktorija Majore will perform "Tehillim" (1981).
