The biographical drama “Uļa” and a meeting with the film's creators will take place at Tukums Culture House on 27 September 2026. The film follows teenager Uļa, a member of the Old Believers community with an extraordinary height, who is invited to play basketball in Riga and faces the challenge of reconciling her identity, family ties, and sports career. The story is based on the biography of legendary Latvian basketball player Uļjana Semjonova, directed by Viesturs Kairišs. Main roles feature Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Chulpan Khamatova, Aleksas Kazanavičius, and others. The screening will be in Latvian, for audiences aged 12+, and runs for 1 hour 43 minutes.
