This summer, the National Library of Latvia (Castle of Light) offers a diverse programme for locals and visitors. Explore the building, visit exhibitions, see the National Book Shelf and the Dainu Cabinet, a UNESCO 'Memory of the World' registered cultural treasure, use the digital guide gids.lnb.lv, and enjoy panoramic views of Riga from the 11th floor. Featured exhibitions: - Permanent exhibition "Book in Latvia" (1st floor), telling the story of bookmaking in Latvia in a global context. - "Freedom Begins with a Book" (5th floor), highlighting the role of books in Latvian society. - "Is a Library a Birthright?", reflecting on libraries and reading as a foundation of democratic society. - "Birkerts. Libraries. Light." (1st floor), about architect Gunārs Birkerts’ life and works. - "Castle of Light and the Glass Mountain" (1st and 12th floors), about the library project’s history and its architect.
