Lāčplēša diena Ogrē is a national remembrance event taking place at several locations in Ogre on 11 November 2026. At 17:30 in Neatkarības Square and at 19:30 by the Monumental Latvian Flag at Brīvības iela 32a, historian Gunārs Rusiņš will speak about the significance of Lāčplēša Day. Participants gather from 18:45 by the Riflemen’s Memorial on the Daugava embankment, before the torchlight procession begins at 19:00 and continues to the Brothers’ Cemetery. A ceremonial remembrance moment is planned in Neatkarības Square, followed by a tribute to fallen soldiers and Latvian freedom fighters at the cemetery. After dark, a short film will be shown on the municipal building and the Big Screen in City Square. Bonfires, Latvian flags and illuminated bridges will mark the occasion. Traffic restrictions are planned along the procession route.
