Jēkabpils Tautas teātris presents the tragicomedy “Igauņu bēres” on 9 November 2026 at Jēkabpils Tautas nams in Jēkabpils. Andruss Kivirähk’s play combines humour and absurdity while exploring the paradoxes of Estonian culture and traditions. In a small Estonian village, a large and partly unfamiliar group of relatives gathers for a grandfather’s funeral. Amid everyday problems, the characters reveal different views on values, the meaning of life, generational differences, marriage and the value of the grandfather’s land. The production also reflects on human qualities and weaknesses familiar beyond Estonia. Directed by Inta Ūbele, with set design by Ivars Noviks, music by Aigars Godiņš and lighting by Ilmārs Mārāns. The performance features Inita Zarkeviča, Uldis Urtāns, Aija Klāne, Reinis Širokovs and others. Running time: 1 hour 30 minutes.
