The literary studies lecture in the “Rīts ar literatūrzinātnieku” cycle takes place on 17 October 2026 at Siguldas novada bibliotēka, Leona Paegles iela 3, Sigulda. In her presentation “Aiz raksturlomām: Olga Ezerlauka un pirmās latviešu aktrises-autores”, Eva Eglāja-Kristsone examines Olga Ezerlauka, an actress, translator, seamstress and periodical contributor, alongside other early Latvian actress-authors. The lecture introduces Elza Alunāne, Tija Banga, Alīda Esenberga, Karlīne Ozola-Gorņica, Biruta Skujeniece, Līze Velpa and Viola, whose work included translating plays, writing poetry and drama, and working as theatre critics, directors and publicists. The event is in Latvian and intended for a broad audience. It starts at 12.00. A recording will later be available on the “Siguldas devons” Facebook page and YouTube channel.
